Roblox is facing renewed scrutiny after advocacy groups asked the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate the platform over alleged “unfair and deceptive” practices affecting children.
The complaint, filed by Fairplay and the National Centre on Sexual Exploitation, alleges that children as young as five are at risk due to contact from strangers and pressure to spend money within Roblox’s in-game systems.
The groups argue that Roblox has failed to protect young users adequately, leading to concerns about child safety and potential harm from the platform's practices.
