Amazon remains committed to developing a Lord of the Rings game, despite recent reports of its MMO project being cancelled.
Amazon's head of games Jeff Gattis stated that the company is still exploring various concepts for the game. He mentioned evaluating different ideas to determine the best fit for their audience and the broader gaming community.
While Gattis did not confirm the cancellation of the Lord of the Rings MMO, he emphasized that Amazon is actively working on a new gaming experience within the Lord of the Rings universe in collaboration with Middle-earth Enterprises. The company is focusing on developing games based on established intellectual properties like Tomb Raider and James Bond rather than creating entirely new properties.
Amazon is investing in innovative game mechanics and aims to bring new intellectual properties to the market. Gattis expressed eagerness for their ongoing projects to materialize, emphasizing Amazon's dedication to the AAA gaming market and the importance of creating content that aligns with their platform.
