Citing the demand of exhibitors being higher than ever before, the event organizers are already looking to expand next year's offering to meet the increasing demand and improve the visitor experience. Felix Falk, managing director of game – The German Games Industry Association, mentioned that Gamescom 2026 will be bigger than ever, with exhibitor demand at an all-time high. Exciting highlights such as Gamescom Opening Night Live, the expanded gamescom awesome indies show, and gamescom GDQ are building anticipation for the event, which is set to be the world's largest games event.
Recent developments include a new partnership between Gamescom organizers, Koelnmesse, Game - The German Games Industry Association, and IGN for Gamescom's 'gamescom awesome indies show.' This partnership expands on a long-established relationship, with IGN now serving as the production partner of the official Gamescom consumer broadcast. The Gamescom Congress this year focuses on 'Playing Field Democracy' and 'The Games Effect,' highlighting the positive impact of video games on democratic education and innovation across various fields.
The Gamescom event, scheduled from August 26-30, includes the Gamescom Congress on August 27, which is preceded by Gamescom Dev from August 23-25. The first speakers for the event were announced in April.
