Maryland residents must stay away from prediction market trades on the outcome of elections or risk prosecution for illegal wagering, according to the state’s top elections official.
State Elections Administrator Jared DeMarinis cautioned residents against participating in prediction market trades related to congressional and gubernatorial primary races. DeMarinis emphasized that such trades could be considered illegal wagers, potentially leading to prosecution.
