MercurySteam Initiates Workforce Adjustment Process

Spanish studio MercurySteam has initiated a workforce adjustment process.

MercurySteam, founded in 2002, has collaborated with notable figures like American McGee, Clive Barker, and Konami's Castlevania series, most recently launching Blades of Fire in 2025. Despite its successful partnerships, the studio has announced the necessity of cutting jobs due to the industry's production cycles, describing the decision as 'difficult and painful'.

The company expressed its respect and gratitude for the affected employees, acknowledging their significant contributions to the studio. MercurySteam also extended support to those impacted, encouraging other studios to consider hiring the experienced developers. The studio plans to handle the adjustment process with responsibility, humanity, and respect for all involved.

The exact number of staff affected by the workforce reduction remains undisclosed. In a similar move, Night Street Games, shortly after reassuring players about its continuity, has also downsized its team following a pause in production of its recent hero shooter.
