Xbox unit sales also hit their lowest figures for May, down 12% year on year. The PS5 experienced a price increase in April, with standard console prices rising by $100 to $649.99, and the PS5 Pro by $150 to $899.99.

Despite the decline in Sony and Microsoft sales, US hardware spending increased by 38% year on year to $249 million in May, driven by the Switch 2. Nintendo's console is now the second fastest-selling video game hardware in the US, with an install base of 5.9 million units. Overall US video game spending rose by 3% year on year to $4.2 billion in May, with year-to-date spending up 4% to $23 billion.

007 First Light led game sales, ranking as the fourth best-selling game of 2026 in the US. It follows Resident Evil: Requiem, Crimson Desert, and MLB: The Show 26, and precedes Forza Horizon 6 in fifth place.
