Premium mobile games are seeing a resurgence, with a 77% increase in releases in 2025. The sector is dominated by original titles and cross-platform launches, indicating a positive trend in port revenue.

In 2025, premium mobile games experienced a notable comeback, challenging the dominance of free-to-play options. Exclusive research by AppMagic for GamesIndustry.biz revealed a 77% rise in premium game releases, totaling nearly 750 titles. While free-to-play games still dominate the market, accounting for 96% of mobile downloads, the data highlights significant growth in the premium segment.

The study by AppMagic also showed a shift towards more original premium titles and simultaneous cross-platform launches. Although ports of existing games only made up 3% of premium releases, there was a notable increase in ports of PC and console titles, with a rise from 7 in 2024 to 23 in 2025. Noteworthy contributors to the growth include Balatro, Slay the Spire, Human Fall Flat, Dead Cells, and Ultimate Custom Night.

There is a growing trend of developers exploring mobile releases for premium PC games, indicating a potential additional revenue stream for the industry. Redcatpig, a porting and co-development company, noted an uptick in requests for mobile versions of premium PC games, reflecting a broader industry movement towards mobile platforms.
