A Gambling Commission consultation on where betting companies’ fines should go has drawn a sharp line between operators on one side and charitable organisations on other.
Between February and April 2026, the UK Gambling Commission conducted a consultation to determine the destination of fines imposed on betting companies. The key decision revolved around whether these regulatory penalties should be directed to the government’s Consolidated Fund. Following the consultation period, the Commission concluded that the funds collected from enforcement actions should be allocated to the government’s bank account.
