Unity 7 will enter beta testing in December 2026, with its full release scheduled for Q1 2027. Unity announced at the Unite Seoul conference that its latest engine will eliminate the need for traditional version upgrades.

Unity 7, the upcoming engine from Unity, is set to launch in the first quarter of 2027. The new engine, described as a direct continuation of Unity 6, is designed to offer seamless adoption for teams due to the unchanged underlying architecture during the version transition. Beta testing for Unity 7 is expected to commence in December 2026, leading up to its official release in Q1 2027.

Unity's senior vice president of product, Adam Smith, highlighted that Unity 7 introduces new features that have been thoroughly tested in the current engine, ensuring a smooth transition for users. The latest engine is built on a modern CoreCLR foundation and incorporates advanced rendering tools to enhance lighting and visual quality across various platforms.

Moreover, Unity 7 comes equipped with a new CLI and public API, empowering artists, producers, and developers to collaborate efficiently using their preferred tools. The engine's suite of AI tools, including the Unity Vector engine, aims to provide developers with valuable insights without imposing mandatory usage.
