CD Projekt joint-CEO Michał Nowakowski acknowledges the loss of trust from some players following the troubled release of Cyberpunk 2077 but aims to regain it with future projects like The Witcher 4.
During Knowledge's Edge in Person event, Nowakowski expressed the company's disappointment over the rocky launch of the sci-fi RPG. Despite the game's recovery, he believes CD Projekt still has more to do to restore faith among its audience. He hopes that upcoming projects, including The Witcher 4, will help in rebuilding trust.
Nowakowski highlighted the positive outcome of the challenges faced during Cyberpunk 2077's post-launch period, noting that the studio emerged stronger. He also mentioned the transition from Red Engine to Unreal Engine 5 for The Witcher 4, emphasizing the benefits of working with Epic and their engine.
Despite the initial setbacks, Cyberpunk 2077 has now sold over 35 million copies, showcasing a significant rebound for CD Projekt following the troubled release.
