Delphi Interactive's Fan-First Strategy Attracts Major IP Interest

CEO Casper Daugaard explains how focusing on IP fans over 'gamers' is bridging the gap between iconic brands and interactive experiences.

Delphi Interactive's successful launch of FIFA World Cup: Launch Edition and 007 First Light has opened up new opportunities with prominent brands, CEO Casper Daugaard reveals. Speaking at a panel at The Paley Center for Media, Daugaard mentioned that several renowned global brands have shown interest in their approach of prioritizing fans over traditional gamers. This strategy involves developing games tailored for fans of specific intellectual properties rather than a limited gaming audience.

For instance, Delphi Interactive applied this approach to the creation of First Light by obtaining the license and collaborating with IO Interactive for its development. Daugaard emphasized the company's focus on catering to James Bond enthusiasts rather than just gamers, aiming to deliver an immersive and comprehensive interactive experience that captures the essence of the iconic franchise.

The same fan-centric strategy was employed for the FIFA game in partnership with Netflix, targeting a broader audience beyond the typical FIFA player base. Despite time constraints, Netflix recognized the potential of the project, which was developed by Refactor Games and published by Delphi. This release marked the first in the FIFA series following the split from EA Sports in 2022, preceding FIFA Heroes by two weeks.

Delphi's core mission, as outlined by Daugaard, revolves around licensing, financing, developing, and publishing games based on the world's most recognizable intellectual properties. President Andy Kleinman echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the company's commitment to filling the gap between major publishers and iconic entertainment or sports brands by bringing beloved IPs to life through innovative gaming experiences.
