Jakarta and the surrounding metropolitan area have become the de facto center of Indonesia’s illegal gambling industry, according to government officials.
The Financial Transaction Reports and Analysis Center (PPATK), Indonesia's leading anti-money laundering agency, made these assertions as reported by the Indonesian media outlet Detik. The agency highlighted Jabodetabek (Jakarta and the surrounding Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi) as the focal point of illicit gambling activities in the country.
PPATK's statement sheds light on the increasing prevalence of illegal gambling operations in Jakarta, emphasizing the need for heightened enforcement measures to combat this illicit industry effectively.
